In my opinion, this engine package will provide the most creditable tech, the most affordable racing, and the longest lasting package we have ever had. It has been refined over an eight-year period, and Briggs is in for the long haul.
My plan for the 2018 Point Season, is to begin the point season on April 28 for the Box Stock Division. That gives four races as test races. By then, all teams should be able to start the point season on the most level footing we have had in recent years.
I will open the engine rule in this division to include the 250cc two stroke single cylinder motorcycle engines. No over bore or over stroke will be allowed. Must remain standard for the year and model. Also, the maximum circumference on the expansion chamber will be held to 14.5” or under. The idea for this change is to address the skyrocketing cost associated with the current four stroke engine package. This rule change at this time is on an experimental basis and will be subject to adjustments as it is developed.
OPEN AND OPEN INTERMEDIATE DIVISIONS
No changes are in place for the current engine formula.
