Matt Peacher Scores Big Win in Sportsman Class

The Sportsman Class saw somewhat of a surprise winner on Saturday night during Points Race #2 as 37 year old driver Matt Peacher put together a great performance to pick up the victory in his Peacher Ag Construction #64 kart. Matt has been a regular in the Sportsman class over the past few seasons and it was great to see him have such a strong performance as he led all 20 laps en route to the victory. Leana Kenyon tried all she could running right around the bottom of the racetrack, she could get close to Peacher but was never able to edge to the front. She would settle for the 2nd place finish. Michael Helwig won the first two races of the season at the Cycleland Speedway but struggled early on in the Feature on Saturday night. He had an issue and had to restart in the 14th position. He was able to charge back to a third place finish. Alec Justeson had another solid night finishing in the 4th position while Mike Moore rounded out the top five with a 5th place finish.

The Sportsman Class has had the largest car counts so far this season. Saturday night they drew 31 karts in the pit area. Jason Throop piloted his M&S Wesley Tree Service #16J to Fast Time in Qualifying with a lap time of 11.019 seconds. Heat Race competition saw Matt Peacher, Kevin Hartnett, Josh Young, and Mike Moore pick up victories. Michael Helwig picked up another Trophy Dash victory in his Ed Brown Trucking #28M. The B-Main Event was won by Paradise, CA driver Grant Keeter.

We will be back in action at the Cycleland Speedway on Saturday April 29th for Points Race #3 of the 2017 race season. Cars are scheduled to hit the track for Hot Laps at 4:30 P.M. For ticket information and/or directions to the racetrack please visit our website at www.cyclelandspeedway.com.
