Kyle Woodcock Shines in Open Intermediate Feature

Kyle Woodcock has been one of the fastest drivers moving up through the ranks over the past few years. Kyle is the 250 Intermediate Track Record holder and is now competing in the Open Intermediate Class full time in 2017. He picked up the Main Event Victory Saturday night behind the wheel of his Oroville Cycle #9 kart. He held off Dawson Hammes on a late race restart for the big win. Hammes would have to settle for the runner up spot in 2nd. Josh Wooten has been one of the big surprises of 2017 so far as he has shown immense speed on the racetrack and has improved a lot since the conclusion of 2016. Josh lives with autism, but doesn't let it slow him down one bit as he has been a regular competitor at the speedway for a few years now. Dominic Tadiello finished in the fourth spot, while Reno, NV driver Grasen Ternora rounded out the top five in the 5th spot.

The night began with 22 karts signing into the pit area. Kyle Woodcock had the fastest lap in time trials, which was also the fastest lap we have seen this season in any class at 10.550 seconds. Heat Race wins were claimed by Colton Raudman and Dawson Hammes. Kyle Woodcock completed the clean sweep as he also won the Trophy Dash, his 2nd in as many races.

With a lot of the drivers in the Open Intermediate class gaining confidence and getting faster each week, we should start seeing more of them creep into the Open Class. It will be great to add these up and coming drivers to the already stacked Open Class field.

We will be back in action at the Cycleland Speedway on Saturday April 29th for Points Race #3 of the 2017 race season. Cars are scheduled to hit the track for Hot Laps at 4:30 P.M. For ticket information and/or directions to the racetrack please visit our website at www.cyclelandspeedway.com.
