The 2016 Points Season has come to a close at the Cycleland Speedway. This year we saw an immense amount of great racing week in and week out. Many drivers displayed their ability to win on any given Saturday, but in the end there is only one Champion in each class.
The Open Class this season was highly competitive. We saw 12 different drivers pick up Main Event Wins. During the Final Points Race this past weekend we saw Jake Park earn his 3rd Victory of the season. Park, the 26 year old driver out of Red Bluff had a great season this year picking up 3 Main Event wins to go along with 4 Heat Race Wins. Although he did not run for points this year he was a driver that was capable of picking up the Win each week. Park had his hands full Saturday night as Travis Henry piloted the Grandpa George Motors #23 to a second place finish. Henry made a big move to get inside of Park coming off of turn four on the final lap, but just couldn't maintain the momentum needed to complete the pass. Tyler Brown scored his first Career Top Five, finishing in the 3rd spot. It was an impressive run for the 15 year old Rookie driver out of Elk Grove. Garrett Brown charged to a 4th place finish in the Main Event in the Ed Brown Trucking #2 kart. While Brandon LaChance had a solid run in the 5th spot.
